FARMA METSOVOU of Athanasios Mpougias

FARMA METSOVOU is located in the mountainous village of Chrysovitsa, wider region of Metsovo, Ioannina and covers 18 acres of sheltered slopes. Donkeys farm was established in October 2014 and until now is being developed with love and dedication but also respect to the natural environment. Our lovely donkeys are bred with love and care and give us their valuable milk.
The 60 donkeys’ milk is pasteurized under specific conditions to keep its high nutritional value and freshness as well as the food standards. The donkey milk is one of the most valuable food products and the only milk close to woman’s milk.

Donkey milk nutritional value and benefits

Donkey milk is rich in vitamins (A, B1, B2, B6, C, D, E), minerals (calcium, magnesium, phosphorus, iron, zinc…), trace elements and essential fatty acids (omega 3 and 6). It contains a lot of retinol (vitamin A) which has a very significant wrinkle-fighting and tightening effect. Retinol also helps to accelerate healing and collagen production.

The infant minimize the chances of acquiring allergies, while helping its body to significantly boost the immune system

The high presence of lactose in the milk donkey, ensures the proper development of baby’s bones and adults.

Donkey milk is indicated in patients with poor immune system.

The presence of probiotic ingredients, which help in the absorption of calcium from the body, prevents osteoporosis that occurs in older people.

It is especially effective on problem skin with eczema, acne or psoriasis. The skin regenerates more easily and thus eliminates impurities.

Fresh pasteurized donkey milk

Immediately after the mechanical milking of our donkeys, the milk is filtered and pasteurized in order to meet the food standards required in the European market. After the pasteurization process, milk is bottled into sterile glass bottles of 100 and 200 ml and kept in the refrigerator until consumption. Preservation of the product: The product should be kept in fridge at temperatures from 0ο C to 4ο C, until consumption based on expiry date. Use of the product: milk can be consumed cold and hot but the temperature must not exceed the 72ο C, in order not to lose its nutritional value.
